About Bacteriostatic Water
Bacteriostatic water is sterile water with 0.9% benzyl alcohol added. The benzyl alcohol keeps bacteria from growing, so the same vial can be drawn from more than once over several weeks instead of being thrown out after one use.
It is the standard liquid used to mix freeze-dried research peptides back into solution. Buying more vials lowers the price per vial — see our reconstitution guide for the mixing math.
Compound classification
Sterile water for injection with 0.9% benzyl alcohol as bacteriostatic preservative.
Mechanism studied in the literature
Used as a diluent to reconstitute lyophilized research peptides in laboratory settings. The benzyl alcohol preservative inhibits microbial growth, allowing multi-day use of reconstituted research stock.
Research areas
- Lyophilized peptide reconstitution
- General laboratory dilutions
- Reference solvent for in-vitro work
Storage
Store at room temperature (20-25°C) protected from direct light. Discard 28 days after first puncture.
Reconstitution (laboratory)
Ready-to-use sterile diluent — no preparation required.
